Permian Sea

The Permian Sea or Permian Basin is an underwater basin that is a remnant of an ancient ocean that existed during Permian times (approximately 299 to 248 million years ago). It is entirely subterranean and spans an area about 480 kmĀ² (185 sq mi) across, running from eastern New Mexico to western Texas. The water within the basin is brackish, and has been extracted for use on shrimp farms. [1]

In the Permian Sea there were sea life like stem crinoids, sponges, mollusk symmetry and brachiopod penicularis. These animals were mainly sifter feeders. This has been taken directly from a research on the Kaibab Limestone in the Grand Canyon.
